Job Description

Transit Vehicle Electronic Technicians work as part of a skilled maintenance team responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing electronic and electro-mechanical systems on BART revenue vehicles. Under general supervision, technicians perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, repair and replace components, and verify system functionality for propulsion, train control, braking, HVAC, communications, door control, lighting, and auxiliary electrical systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Associate in Science degree in electronics from an accredited community college or an Electronics Credential from an accredited electronics certificate program, or its equivalent (i.e., completion of a military electronics training program).

Substitution:
Four (4) years of verifiable full-time work experience in electronic maintenance (troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electronic and/or electro-mechanical equipment) can be substituted for the education.

Other Requirements:
Must possess adequate color vision and be physically capable of working in confining workspaces and lifting equipment weighing up to 70 pounds.
Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, off hours shifts and occasional emergency overtime.
Must be able to climb ladders to perform railcar maintenance work.
