Personal Technology Assistant

About the Position
Seeking a patient, tech-savvy assistant to work with an 82-year-old writer in his beautiful Mill Valley home. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while earning excellent compensation.
Your Role
Help maximize the use of new iMac systems for:

Memoir writing - Assist with organizing thoughts, using writing software, and developing a workflow for a personal memoir project
Political engagement - Support active participation in civic issues through email, research, and document preparation
AI/LLM mastery - Teach effective use of Claude, ChatGPT, and other large language models for research and writing
Audio system integration - Help navigate and optimize multiple audio systems throughout the home

Ideal Candidate

Patient and personable - Excellent at teaching and explaining technology without condescension
Mac proficient - Comfortable with macOS, iMac hardware, and Apple ecosystem
Strong communicator - Can break down complex tech concepts into simple steps
Writing background helpful - Understanding of the writing process, document organization, and memoir structure
Tech-forward thinking - Familiar with AI tools, LLMs, and emerging technologies
Reliable and punctual - Consistent availability for scheduled sessions

Experience Preferred (but not required)

Previous work with seniors or teaching experience
Background in writing, journalism, or editing
Familiarity with AI writing assistants and LLMs
