Controller

Santa Monica-based privately owned, stable financial lending and investment firm in business since 1965 seeks an experienced hands-on Controller.

This person must be smart, competent, thorough, and precise, have strong written/verbal communication skills, be intimately familiar with QuickBooks (or a better alternative), and focus on important issues and identify actions needed.

In this role, you will prepare and issue financial statements/reports for 12 low-volume modest entities, most with few transactions, prepare and issue comparative summaries of financial information received from investments, and handle special assignments accurately and efficiently.

Position responsibilities include payroll/deductions/payments, monitoring/analyzing insurance, maintaining control over coin/metals inventory, recording non-routine transactions, assisting with CPA audits, preparing tax schedules/payments, preparing finance lenders/business license renewals, coordinating IT issues, reviewing debtor statements, identifying debt collection action needed, approving accounts payable, signing checks/wires, and other routine and non-routine accounting duties.
