Pottery and Ceramics Instructor (Wheel + Hand building)

TIMELINE
Immediate Hire.

Role:
Teach engaging, well-structured pottery ceramics classes for adults and teens—primarily wheel throwing and hand building — while supporting a safe, clean, welcoming art studio environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead beginner–intermediate wheel throwing classes (centering, pulling, trimming, handles, basic forms)
• Teach hand building techniques (pinch, coil, slab, joining, surface design)
• Demonstrate tools/techniques clearly and coach students with patience + positivity
• Set up and reset workstations; maintain studio cleanliness and clay reclaim workflow
• Support students through project planning + troubleshooting
• Enforce studio safety + best practices (wheel safety, dust control, glaze safety basics)
• Communicate with studio team on class notes, supplies needed, and student progress

Qualifications (Required):
• Previous pottery teaching experience (studio, school, community, or private)
• Ability to teach step-by-step, adapting to different learning styles
• Reliable, punctual, professional, and great with teens + adults
• Customer-service mindset: friendly, calm, encouraging, and solutions-oriented
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for class periods

Job Type: Part-time

• Part-time, weekday PM + Weekends 25 – 30 hours per week (consistent weekly schedule)
