Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Slate Tile Roofer to join our team for a roofing project involving the installation and maintenance of slate tiles. The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of slate roofing, including installation, deck preparation, waterproofing, flashing, and custom tile fitting. This position requires attention to detail and craftsmanship to ensure a high-quality, long-lasting finish.
Key Responsibilities:
Slate Tile Installation & Alignment: Install slate tiles according to industry best practices, ensuring proper overlap, alignment, and secure attachment to the roof deck. Maintain a uniform and aesthetically pleasing appearance throughout the roof.
Roof Deck Preparation: Inspect and prepare the roof deck by cleaning, repairing, or replacing any damaged sections. Ensure the surface is level, clean, and free from debris to support proper tile installation.
Waterproofing & Underlayment Installation: Install appropriate underlayment materials (e.g., roofing felt, ice/water shield) to provide an extra layer of waterproofing beneath the slate tiles, preventing leaks.
Flashing & Valleys Installation: Install flashing around chimneys, vents, and valleys to prevent water penetration. Secure and seal the flashing to ensure effective water diversion and leak prevention.
Slate Cutting & Custom Fitting: Measure, cut, and custom-fit slate tiles around roof features like edges, chimneys, and vents, ensuring a precise fit while maintaining proper drainage and water flow.
Qualifications:
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
Proven experience in slate roofing installation
Knowledge of proper installation techniques and materials
Ability to accurately measure, cut, and fit tiles
Experience with waterproofing, underlayment, and flashing installation
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Compensation:
Opportunities for overtime and additional work
