JOB TITLE : JUNIOR ASSISTANT EVENT COORDINATOR

Kingan Gardens is a romantic garden wedding and event venue in the historic “El Presidio” neighborhood of downtown Tucson, AZ.

COMPENSATION & EMPLOYMENT TYPE
• Hourly, Part-Time
• $20 per hour
• Event-based scheduling
• Primarily weekends, with occasional weekday events during peak seasons
JOB SUMMARY
The Junior Assistant Event Coordinator supports the Event Coordination team in executing weddings and special events at our small, intimate venue. This is an entry-level, hands-on role ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and are willing to assist in all areas of event operations. As a seasonal business with high-volume event schedules during our two peak seasons, this role requires strong weekend availability and flexibility. Duties include event setup, guest service, dining room operations, bussing, and cleaning before, during, and after events.
SEASONAL & SCHEDULING EXPECTATIONS
• This is a seasonal business with heavy event volume during two peak seasons
• Most shifts occur on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
• Availability on weekends is required
• Ideal for individuals seeking part-time, flexible work, including students, retirees, or those with weekday availability
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
• Event Support & Coordination
• Assist the Event Coordinator and AM Coordinator with event-day duties
• Arrive early before events to ensure proper setup of ceremony, cocktail, and reception spaces
• Help manage event flow by releasing tables during dinner service as directed
• Assist with cake cutting, plating, and service

DINING ROOM & GUEST SERVICE
• Assist floor staff and bussers in serving and clearing dinner
• Bus tables throughout dinner service and after meal courses
• Maintain a clean, organized, and guest-ready dining room during events
• Reset tables and dining areas as needed during the event
SETUP, CLEANING & BREAKDOWN
• Assist with dining room setup, including tables, chairs, linens, and décor
• Clean and straighten getting-ready suites and common areas
• Assist with event breakdown, including clearing décor, trash removal, and resetting spaces
• Perform general cleaning duties throughout the event to maintain venue standards
GENERAL VENUE SUPPORT
• Be flexible and willing to assist in all areas of the venue as needed
• Communicate clearly with coordinators and service staff
• Maintain a positive, professional attitude in a fast-paced environment
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
• Little to no prior event experience required; training provided
• Must be available to work most weekends, especially during peak seasons
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
• Willingness to assist with cleaning, bussing, lifting, and setup
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction
• Previous hospitality, restaurant, or event experience is a plus but not required

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position involves standing, walking, lifting, and cleaning throughout shifts. Candidates must be comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by event schedules.
