Job Description
DCD LAW, Inc. — Criminal Defense Attorney
Client-Focused | Courtroom-Forward | Spanish Strongly Preferred | Fast, Fun, Mission-Driven Firm
At DCD LAW, we are proud of the work we do. When we help a client through one of the worst moments of their life and guide them through to the other side, it is some of the most meaningful work in the legal profession.
Whether a client is completely innocent, completely guilty, or somewhere in between, we meet them where they are without judgment. We take them by the hand, explain the path forward, and develop a plan — whether that plan involves dismissal, diversion, mitigation, or damage control. The criminal legal system is overwhelming. Our job is to make sure clients feel protected, informed, and taken care of from beginning to end.
This requires attorneys who are kind, confident, tactically brilliant, and capable of balancing empathy with backbone. We deliver bad news, we deliver good news, and we deliver results. Even when we’re winning a case, clients need reassurance, guidance, and clarity. They need to feel that no matter what the outcome, they have the best possible advocate in their corner.
Our Client Philosophy
We are shepherds in chaos. We:
Take fear out of the process
Reduce uncertainty
Solve problems proactively
Strategize both legally & humanly
Fight where it counts
Communicate at a high level
Give hope without selling fantasy
Tell the truth even when it’s hard
Our approach is white glove. Our customer service is closer to Nordstrom or Ritz-Carlton than the DMV. We expect every attorney in the firm to maintain that level of professionalism and care.
Who Thrives Here
Our best attorneys share common traits:
✔ Court-comfortable or hungry for court
✔ Able to be aggressive when necessary
✔ Able to negotiate with finesse (smile before chainsaw)
✔ Client-centered and emotionally intelligent
✔ Strategic and tactical
✔ Self-sufficient and reliable
✔ Problem solver, not problem narrator
✔ Strong communicator with clients & prosecutors
✔ Respectful to the court, fearless in advocacy
Prior government experience is valued — former prosecutors understand how DAs think, and former PDs understand how to negotiate outcomes and manage clients. Both translate extremely well here.
Spanish Strongly Preferred
A significant portion of our clients are Spanish-speaking. Fluent Spanish speakers are a major asset, not just for legal accuracy, but for dignity, rapport, and trust. It will enhance your effectiveness here immediately.
Practice Areas & Case Work
We are primarily a criminal defense firm, with significant demand for:
Serious felonies & misdemeanors
Mental health diversion cases
Domestic/family violence matters
Civil restraining orders (paused until staffing expands)
Mitigation presentations & post-conviction work
We are also expanding into Plaintiff Personal Injury (2026 launch), giving litigators an uncommon dual-path.
Driving & Geographic Coverage
We cover a large portion of Southern California, including:
Los Angeles County
Ventura County
Orange County
San Bernardino (select matters)
This role requires reliable transportation and consistent driving. Gas & parking reimbursement provided pursuant to firm policy.
If you love being in court, this is the right job. If you want to sit in an office all day — it isn’t.
What We Expect Professionally
Our attorneys handle cases from start to finish. We expect:
Ownership
Competence
Maturity
Judgment
Professional composure
Clients need confidence in every attorney at DCD LAW — not just the name on the door.
Problem Solving Mindset
There is no problem we cannot solve for our clients. Legal obstacles are just puzzles with multiple solutions. The right attorney knows how to:
Talk to law enforcement
Navigate pre-filing strategy
Negotiate for diversion or dismissals
Argue in court with confidence
Work judges respectfully
Think five moves ahead
We wake up proud of the work we do. We only bring in attorneys who can say the same.
Qualifications
Active California Bar License (required)
Spanish fluency strongly preferred
Criminal experience or demonstrated interest
Government experience (PD/DA) valued
Reliable transportation
Courtroom presence or eagerness to develop it
Ability to manage stress & complexity
Thick skin + soft heart + tactical brain
Compensation, Benefits & Advancement
Final compensation, benefits, and advancement opportunities are determined based on:
Experience
Performance
Contribution to firm value
Approx. 3–6 month probationary period for mutual assessment. Post-probation attorneys gain greater independence and higher earning potential. Gas & parking reimbursement provided. No term in this posting creates a guaranteed universal benefit.
Culture
We are fast. We are collaborative. We are serious about results. And we have fun doing this work. We don’t know any other firm that operates at this pace while maintaining a supportive and positive environment.
We win cases. We get dismissals. We protect people. And we enjoy doing it.
