Job Description
Position Type: Part-Time / Contract
Practice Area: Estate Planning (Trusts & Wills)
Location: Remote or Hybrid (depending on jurisdiction)
Overview
We are seeking a licensed attorney with experience in estate planning to serve in a part-time review and quality-control role. This position is designed for an attorney who enjoys technical precision, issue-spotting, and refining legal documents—without the demands of client acquisition or full caseload management.
The role focuses on reviewing estate planning documents for legal accuracy, internal consistency, and compliance with applicable state law, while ensuring alignment with client goals and firm standards.
Responsibilities
Review and provide substantive feedback on estate planning documents, including:
Revocable and irrevocable trusts
Wills and pour-over wills
Powers of attorney (financial and healthcare)
Ancillary estate planning documents
Identify legal, structural, and drafting issues and recommend revisions
Ensure documents are internally consistent and align with intake notes and planning objectives
Flag state-specific compliance issues and best-practice considerations
Collaborate with drafting attorneys and staff through written comments and tracked changes
Assist with periodic updates to templates and standard provisions as laws or firm practices evolve
Qualifications
Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (good standing required)
Minimum 3–5 years of estate planning experience preferred
Strong working knowledge of trusts, probate avoidance strategies, and fiduciary roles
High attention to detail and strong issue-spotting skills
Comfort reviewing and editing documents using tracked changes
Ability to work independently and meet agreed-upon turnaround times
Prior experience in a boutique estate planning firm or private practice is a plus
Work Structure
Flexible, part-time hours (estimated 5–15 hours per week, depending on volume)
Remote work available; secure document access provided
Work assigned on a rolling or batch basis
No client meetings required (unless mutually agreed to make amendments to clients estate planning documents)
Compensation
Contract or part-time engagement (1099)
Ideal Candidate Profile
This role is well-suited for:
An experienced estate planning attorney seeking flexible hours
A solo or semi-retired practitioner looking for supplemental work
An attorney who prefers document review, technical analysis, and drafting precision over sales or intake
Practice Area: Estate Planning (Trusts & Wills)
Location: Remote or Hybrid (depending on jurisdiction)
