Job Description

We are currently seeking a reliable and physically capable Choker Setter / Operator to join our line logging operations. This is a key role in the logging process, involving setting chokers around felled logs to be yarded using a skyline cable system. Candidates must be safety-conscious, physically fit, and able to work in rugged outdoor conditions alongside heavy machinery daily.

Typical shift consists of half day setting chokers under a yarder and half day unhooking chokers on the landing and decking with a log loader. No experience necessary as training on the job is provided.


Responsibilities:
* Set and unhook chokers on logs in active logging operations
* Communicate clearly with rigging crew, yarder operators, and equipment operators
* Work safely around moving equipment, cables, and unstable terrain
* Inspect chokers, cables, and related gear for wear or damage
* Proficiently deck skidded logs with log loader
* Follow all safety protocols and company procedures
* Maintain situational awareness in fast-paced, high-risk environments

Requirements:
* Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding conditions
* Comfortable working in remote areas and on steep slopes daily
* Proficiently operate various heavy equipment
* Strong communication skills and ability to take direction
* Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
* Must be legally eligible to work in the USA

Preferred Qualifications:
* First Aid / CPR certification
* Experience with yarding systems or heavy machinery (swing yarder, skyline, dozers, excavators, etc.)
* Familiarity with heavy equipment, chainsaws, power tools, manual labor
