Feed Mill Mechanic

The Feed Mill Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing mechanical equipment within the feed mill to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operations. This role supports feed production by minimizing downtime and maintaining equipment reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of feed mill equipment including grinders, mixers, conveyors, pellet mills, bucket elevators, and augers
- Diagnose mechanical issues and complete timely repairs to reduce production downtime
- Lubricate, adjust, and replace components such as bearings, belts, chains, motors, gearboxes, and seals
- Assist with installation, modification, and fabrication of mechanical systems and equipment
- Support preventative maintenance programs and document completed work
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide troubleshooting support during production
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance shop and work areas
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and PPE standards
- Coordinate with mill operators and supervisors to prioritize repairs and maintenance needs
- Assist with inventory management of parts and maintenance supplies

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical training or experience in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or related field preferred
- Experience working in feed mills, grain handling, agriculture, or manufacturing environments preferred
- Knowledge of mechanical systems including conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred
- Ability to read manuals, diagrams, and work orders
