Position: Executive Director
Organization: Brewer’s Guild of Alaska (BGA)
Reports to: BGA Board of Directors (Board)
Position Overview:
The Executive Director (ED) of the Brewer’s Guild of Alaska (BGA) is a strategic leader responsible for advancing the BGA’s mission by promoting Alaska's craft beverage industry through consumer education, community events and legislative advocacy. The ED oversees fundraising, event management, membership engagement, Board relations, public advocacy and outreach.
The ideal candidate is passionate about Alaska’s craft beverage industry, has strong non-profit fundraising and event planning experience, and excels at building relationships with members, partners, and the public.

Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising & Development:
• Execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including securing sponsorships, memberships, event revenue and gaming.
• Build relationships with corporate partners and industry stakeholders to secure sponsorships and affiliate memberships.
• Oversee guild membership dues structure and ensure timely renewals.
• Leverage charitable gaming opportunities (such as raffles, pull-tabs, and other permitted gaming activities) to diversify revenue streams and increase financial sustainability.
• Ensure compliance with all state regulations related to gaming and oversee reporting requirements.
• Identify and implement novel revenue-generating opportunities to support the Guild’s initiatives.
Event Planning & Management:
• With the Special Events Committee plan, coordinate, market and execute guild events, including festivals and member conferences.
• Manage event logistics, vendor relationships, sponsorship fulfillment, and speaker/artist relationships.
• Evaluate event success and profitability
• With the Special Events Committee explore opportunities to expand event offerings to increase community engagement and revenue.
Membership Engagement & Growth:
• Serve as the primary liaison for BGA members and affiliates, fostering a strong and engaged membership and affiliate membership base.
• Recruit and retain brewery/distillery/winery members, affiliate members and sponsors.
• Facilitate regular communication with members, providing updates on advocacy efforts and Guild activities.
• With the Technical Committee help facilitate educational sessions and other Technical Committee events.
Board Relations & Governance:
• Facilitate and attend Board meetings, ensuring timely communication with the Board.
• Prepare and present reports and updates at the Board’s request.
• Work closely with the Board to execute the Guild’s mission.
• Ensure that Board decisions and directives are effectively and timely implemented.
• Maintain accurate Guild records including meeting minutes, bylaws and other key documents.
Public Relations & Advocacy:
• Represent the BGA at local, state, and national conferences or advocacy events.
• With the Government Affairs committee educate and engage the public on legislative initiatives affecting the industry.
• Implement public awareness campaigns to promote Alaska’s craft manufacturers.
• Manage the BGA’s digital presence, including maintaining and updating the website and overseeing social media platforms to enhance visibility and public engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proven experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, or association leadership.
• Strong event planning and execution skills, with a track record of managing successful public and industry events.
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage a diverse group of stakeholders.
• Knowledge of the craft brewing industry or a strong interest in learning about it.
• Experience with public relations, advocacy, and government relations.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Compensation:
This is a part-time, salary based position at $40,500 annually. This position requires an average of 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling to accommodate seasonal variations and event demands.
Bonus:
If the Organization concludes a fiscal year with a positive net operating revenue the Executive Director shall be eligible for a performance-based bonus. The bonus may be up to five percent (5%) of the Organization’s total gross revenue for that fiscal year, provided that:
The total bonus shall not exceed:
• Fifty percent (50%) of the Organization’s net operating revenue for that fiscal year; and
• Twenty-five percent (25%) of the Executive Director’s annual base salary for that fiscal year.
The Board of Directors shall determine the final bonus amount, up to the maximum allowable amount outlined above, based on a performance of the Executive Director, and documented in the Board’s meeting minutes.
