Job Description
We are urgently looking for foster homes for several dogs rescued from high-kill Los Angeles shelters.
Fostering saves lives. Without fosters, we cannot pull dogs from shelters that are out of time.
Ace of Hearts provides all food, supplies, vet care, and support β you just provide a safe place and love.
Even short-term fosters (a few days) can make the difference between life and death.
Below are a few dogs currently needing safe homes.
πΎ BELLA β Gentle Senior Boxer
Bella is a sweet 10-year-old boxer mix who was rescued from Downey Shelter and is looking for a calm foster home where she can relax and feel safe. She is incredibly gentle, affectionate, and quiet, and quickly bonds with the person caring for her.
Loves being near her person and will follow you around the house
Is calm and low-maintenance
Sleeps peacefully nearby and enjoys cozy blankets
Walks nicely and enjoys short strolls
Because of her age, Bella may have some vision and hearing loss, but it doesnβt stop her from being a loving companion.
She would do best in a quiet home without cats where she can relax and enjoy her golden years. This sweet girl just needs someone to give her a safe place to land.
πΎ CRUZE β Sweet Lab/Shepherd Mix
Cruze is a well-behaved German Shepherd/Lab mix who loves people and little kids.
Good in the home, but he doesn't like other dogs or cats.
Loud noises frighten him.
Loves his exercise but can pull hard on his leash.
Wants to be your best friend. Loves to play.
Enjoys outdoor time and being active.
πΎ CHESTNUT β Sweet but Sensitive Boy
Chestnut is a 4-year-old dog who is incredibly affectionate once he trusts you, but he needs a patient foster who understands shy or nervous dogs.
He can be timid at first and needs time to decompress in a calm environment.
Loves being close to his person
Enjoys walks and outdoor time
Bonds strongly with his caregiver
Is playful and loving once comfortable
Because he can be reactive in stressful situations, Chestnut would do best with:
An experienced dog foster
A calm home environment
Someone willing to give him time and structure
With patience, Chestnut truly blossoms into a loyal and loving companion.
πΎ BLANKETS & JACK JACK β Bonded Best Friends
These two American Bulldog mixes were rescued together and must stay together β they rely on each other for comfort.
Both dogs are about 2 years old and extremely sweet, but they are very shy and still learning to trust people.
Blankets:
Gentle and sensitive
Looks to Jack Jack for reassurance
Loves toys
Jack Jack:
More confident of the pair
Very treat motivated
Loves being near his sister
They are:
Quiet and affectionate
House trained
Learning to feel safe around humans
These dogs need a patient, calm foster willing to help them build confidence.
Watching them grow and learn to trust is incredibly rewarding.
πΎ VITO β Energetic Shepherd Mix
Vito is a friendly and playful German Shepherd mix who loves adventures.
He is the perfect dog for someone who enjoys:
Walks
Hikes
Outdoor activities
Is very affectionate with people
Is house trained
Loves playing and exploring
Gets along with most dogs
He is a happy, active dog who just needs a temporary place to stay while waiting for his forever home.
If you enjoy being outdoors, Vito would be an amazing foster companion.
