KATSUYA is seeking Maki Chef to join our team! Our restaurant is part of the DRG Restaurant Group, located in the Brentwood neighborhood and Various other locations around Los Angeles.

With specialty cocktails, unique rolls, and spectacular sushi and sashimi platters, Chef Katsuya Uechi skillfully translates Japanese flavors for the American palate. The superb talent and exacting precision of Katsuya has changed the face of Japanese cuisine.

Katsuya analyzed the eating habits of the American public and stepped outside of what is traditional Japanese cuisine, mixing the former with California style cuisine. This innovation ignited the new sushi trend that spread like wildfire throughout the industry.

Our restaurant is focused on bringing an excellent and exciting dining experience to Los Angeles. We are looking for energetic, individuals with a passion for Japanese food, who experience as Sushi Chef or Sushi Helper.

Job Summary

The Sushi / Maki Cook handles all aspects of their assigned cooking station – sets up, stock product, cook, and presents dishes according to recipes, cleans, sanitizes and maintains equipment, utensils and tools.

MAKI CHEF RESPONISIBILITIES

Prepare Rolls, and other food items with high quality and our standard.

Maintain a clean sanitary work area.

Assist food prepping food during off-peak hours.

Check freshness and quality of ingredients

Re-stock goods and food products.

Follow proper recipes and plate presentations

Work with management to create a memorable experience for guests

Qualifications:

Previous experience of 2-3 years in a Japanese restaurant, cooking, or other related fields

Passion for food and strong knife skills, cooking techniques

Strong communication skills and sense of urgency

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Professional attitude and great team worker

SUSHI CHEF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare Sushi, Sashimi, Rolls, and other food items with high quality and our standard.

Maintain a clean sanitary work area.

Assist food prepping food during off-peak hours.

Coordinate fish orders

Check freshness and quality of ingredients

Re-stock goods and food products.

Follow proper recipes and plate presentations

Work with management to create a memorable experience for guests

Previous experience of 2-3 years in a Japanese restaurant, cooking, or other related fields

Excellent knowledge of fish fabrication

Passion for food and strong knife skills, cooking techniques

Strong communication skills and sense of urgency

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Professional attitude and great team worker
