Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team, dedicated to ensuring the optimal performance and safety of a diverse fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and industrial equipment. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and other critical components across various machinery. The ideal candidate will possess extensive mechanical expertise, hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation, and a strong commitment to quality service. Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC units, and other vehicle components using schematics and automotive diagnostics tools.
Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and tractor-trailers.
Fabricate parts or modify existing components as needed using welding, soldering, power tools, and hand tools to meet operational specifications.
Execute routine vehicle maintenance tasks such as tire service, shocks & struts replacement, brake repair, wheel alignment, and fluid changes.
Repair and overhaul powertrain components including transmissions and differentials while adhering to safety standards.
Diagnose electrical issues involving wiring harnesses and electronic control modules; perform electrical repairs with precision.
Utilize schematics and technical manuals to interpret complex mechanical and electrical systems for accurate repairs.
Perform heavy lifting safely during equipment assembly or disassembly processes.
Conduct welding or fabrication tasks required for custom modifications or repairs on heavy machinery.
Maintain detailed service records for all repairs performed; ensure compliance with safety regulations such as air brake inspections.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues efficiently while providing excellent customer service when interacting with clients or operators.
Assist in preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
Qualifications

Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engines; dealership experience is highly desirable.
MUST have your own tools.
Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and industrial equipment.
Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for complex mechanical systems.
Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; capable of using power tools effectively.
Familiarity with automotive repair procedures including brake repair, wheel alignment, suspension work, HVAC servicing, tire service, and shocks & struts replacement.
Experience working with Caterpillar or similar heavy machinery brands is advantageous.
Ability to diagnose electrical issues using automotive diagnostics tools; knowledge of electrical systems is essential.
Mechanical knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC units, and vehicle maintenance practices.
Hands-on experience with vehicle assembly/disassembly processes involving power tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with attention to detail in troubleshooting complex issues.
Physical capability for heavy lifting; adherence to safety protocols at all times.
