Construction Foreman / Lead Carpenter

Folsom City Carpentry is seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter / Working Foreman with a strong background in remodel work. This is a hands-on role, not a management-only position. Our projects include apartment remodels, ADU construction, custom homes, additions, detached garages, decks, and pergolas.

The right candidate is a working lead who performs most of the skilled work on site, using their crew to assist with labor and workflow. You will be on the tools daily, setting the pace, solving problems, and leading by example.


What This Role Is

-A hands-on lead role, not a desk or office position

-You are the primary skilled tradesperson on the job.

-You work alongside 1–3 less experienced crew members

-You take ownership of quality, pace, and execution from start to finish

Responsibilities:

-Perform the majority of skilled carpentry and remodel work on site

-In coordination with me, you'll lead and direct daily tasks for helpers and laborers.

-Read and execute construction plans, details, and scopes of work

-Handle remodel sequencing and real-time problem solving

-Perform and guide work including:

-Framing and structural modifications

-Door and window installation

-Drywall install, patching, and repairs

-Finish carpentry

-Deck and pergola construction

-Rough-in electrical (layout, boxes, coordination)

-Rough-in plumbing (layout, drains, vents, water lines coordination)

-Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site

-Communicate progress, needs, and issues clearly with ownership

Required Experience

-5+ years of hands-on construction experience, primarily remodel work (This is very subjective, I know people with 3 years who are rockstars and 10 years who cant do a thing correct. Lets just say, you better be experienced)

-Proven experience as a Lead Carpenter/Lead guy.

-Strong understanding of remodel workflows and sequencing

-Ability to read and interpret construction plans

-Comfortable training and directing less experienced crew members

-Reliable, accountable, and detail-oriented

Qualifications

-Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

-Personal hand tools appropriate for a lead-level position
