Armstrong Plumbing – Denver, Colorado
Position Title: Service Technician
Reports To: Journeyman Plumber / Master Plumber / Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $30.00 to $35.00 per hour (DoQ)

Position Summary
The Service Technician for Armstrong Plumbing is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining plumbing systems in residential and/or commercial settings. This role requires strong technical expertise, customer service skills, and compliance with applicable safety, licensing, and building code requirements. The technician serves as a frontline representative of the company and is expected to deliver high-quality workmanship while maintaining professionalism and efficiency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Diagnose plumbing system issues using appropriate testing equipment and techniques
• Repair, replace, and install plumbing fixtures, piping, valves, drains, water heaters, and related components
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative services
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
• Ensure all work complies with applicable plumbing codes, safety standards, and company policies
• Accurately document work performed, materials used, and time spent via work orders or service software
• Communicate findings, recommendations, and cost estimates clearly to customers
• Maintain service vehicles, tools, and inventory in safe and working condition
• Respond to emergency service calls as scheduled or assigned
• Maintain a clean and safe worksite at all times
• Provide professional, courteous customer service and represent the company positively
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Certification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must obtain a DORA-certified Residential License or Journeyman plumber registration with the Colorado State Plumbing Board within 90 days of hire.
• Must obtain a Confined Space Entry Certification within 90 days of hire.
• OSHA 10 certification (may be obtained within the first 90 days).
• Strong communication skills with homeowners and property managers
• Strong customer service skills (two years’ experience preferred)
• Reliable transportation to job sites.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Strong working knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and materials
• Ability to clear sewer main lines using mechanical cabling equipment and perform video inspections using sewer camera systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex plumbing issues independently
• Familiarity with state and local plumbing codes
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
• Strong verbal communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Basic technology skills for scheduling, documentation, and invoicing systems

Education & Experience:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two (2) years of experience as a residential service plumber
Tools & Uniforms
The service technician must supply and maintain a personal tool bag containing the majority of hand tools required for plumbing service calls (as listed by the company). These tools are not company-provided.
Armstrong Plumbing provides standard uniforms, safety equipment, and outerwear.
Employees are required to provide and wear company-approved pants and steel-toe boots (not company-provided) as part of the daily uniform.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work is performed at residential, commercial, and industrial job sites. Service Technicians may be exposed to loud noise, dust, dirt, asbestos, and various weather conditions.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in confined spaces
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• May be exposed to water, chemicals, noise, and mechanical hazards
• Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly wage commensurate with experience.
Eligible for overtime pay.
Paid sick leave under the Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act.
