Job Description
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Smog Repair Technician / Automotive Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and resolve California smog inspection failures while also performing general automotive repair and maintenance in a fast-paced shop environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advanced emissions diagnostics (OBDII, drive cycles, readiness monitors), repair and replacement of emissions-related components such as sensors, catalytic converters, EVAP and EGR systems, general automotive repairs including brakes, suspension, engine performance, cooling systems, and electrical diagnostics, accurate use of scan tools and diagnostic equipment, test driving vehicles to confirm repairs, proper documentation of findings and recommendations, effective communication with management and customers, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and following California BAR regulations and shop procedures.
Qualified candidates must have proven automotive repair experience with smog diagnostics, a strong understanding of California emissions standards, the ability to diagnose complex check-engine and drivability issues, a valid driver’s license, and their own basic hand tools (specialty tools provided). BAR Smog Repair and ASE certifications are preferred. And experience with domestic and import vehicles, electrical and engine performance diagnostics, and the ability to work independently are a plus.
