Express Employment Professionals is hiring on behalf of an industrial recycling client for a Shredder Maintenance Technician / Millwright. This role focuses on the mechanical maintenance and repair of large-scale industrial shredding equipment used to process scrap metal such as cars and appliances. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience maintaining heavy rotating equipment and thrives in a high-production, safety-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Maintenance & Repair:
Perform maintenance and repairs on industrial shredders and associated systems, including changing and tracking shredder belts, pins, hammers, shafts, bearings, liners, and wear parts.

Conveyor & Belt Systems:
Inspect, align, tension, and replace conveyor belts, pulleys, rollers, and idlers to maintain safe and efficient operation.

Shutdown & Rebuild Work:
Assist with planned shutdowns, tear-downs, and rebuilds of shredder components and downstream equipment.

Preventive Maintenance:
Conduct pre- and post-shift inspections, lubrication, and routine servicing to prevent downtime and extend equipment life.

Equipment Operation Support:
Operate loaders, forklifts, and other mobile equipment as needed to support maintenance and production activities.

Safety & Compliance:
Follow strict LOTO procedures, PPE requirements, and safety policies; immediately report hazards, defects, or unsafe conditions.

Documentation & Communication:
Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and communicate equipment status to operations and maintenance teams.

Skills & Qualifications

Experience:
Proven experience as an Industrial Mechanic, Millwright, or Shredder Maintenance Technician working with heavy industrial equipment.

Mechanical Skills:
Strong background in belt systems, rotating equipment, hydraulic and mechanical assemblies, and wear-part replacement.

Technical Aptitude:
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical failures and perform precision work such as alignment and fit-up.

Safety Mindset:
Demonstrated commitment to industrial safety standards and environmental compliance.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors, climb ladders, lift heavy components, and work in physically demanding conditions.

Communication:
Able to work effectively as part of a maintenance team and communicate clearly with operations staff.
