Companion Bakeshop Pastry Position (westside)

Job Title: Pastry Prep & Baker

Companion Bakeshop is a small quality-driven bakery in Santa Cruz, CA. We have been named Best Bread by Santa Cruz County for the past decade and we take pride in making the best organic pastries and sourdough in the area.

The person we are looking for is hard working, punctual, reliable, professional, able to work on a timeline, works with a natural hustle without losing attention to detail. This person must be comfortable working independently as well as with a team. These positions are available in our Pastry Kitchen located in Santa Cruz . The team you will be joining is welcoming, hard-working, kind, professional, and fun. We get a lot done in a day, and if this sounds like a team you would fit into, we want to meet you!

Flexible schedules are a plus on the days you are available, to allow for availability of switching up which shift you work on each of your scheduled days.

Shift Structure & Positions Available:
All shifts are 8 hours.

• Pastry Baker (part time or full time, flexible days - 2 positions available)
2 a.m. start time for the Bake shift, 3:30 a.m. or 6 a.m. for shifts on days you're not baking
Works solo to bake all of the morning pastries and is joined by a partner to pack and prepare for the following day's bake. Kitchen/baking experience preferred. Must be able to do a lot of basic math very often, stand for long periods of time, and lift up to 50 lbs.

This position collects tips as well as an hourly wage.

Wage info:
-Training rate is based on experience; if no kitchen experience, training rate begins @ $18/hr.
-2am Bake Shift rate starts at $21
-Tips approx $2-$3/hr extra are also earned on top of your hourly wage.
-50c raises available to eligible employees at cross-training benchmarks and reviews.

Requirements for the positions:

• Willingness and ability to work an 8 hour shift on your feet.
- Willingness to work bake shifts as team needs
- Willingness to work
• Willingness and ability to move quickly, and able to lift 50 lbs.
• Works well with a team and respects leadership roles but is also comfortable working independently.
• Enjoy working early mornings
