Part-Time / As-Needed Special Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Tech - F550

We are seeking a reliable, hands-on maintenance and repair technician to support a specially modified 2012 Ford F-550 Mobile Surveillance Tower truck (MST) located in Port Charlotte, FL.

This is an as-needed, part-time role averaging 8–16 hours per month, ideal for a skilled mechanic, technician, or mechanically inclined professional looking for flexible side work.

About the Vehicle
The MST is a unique, purpose-built vehicle that integrates:
• Automotive systems
• Electronic components
• Hydraulic systems
• Mechanical and structural modifications

Experience with work trucks, utility vehicles, service bodies, or custom vehicles is a plus.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
• General vehicle upkeep and preventive maintenance
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
• Minor modifications, adjustments, and component upgrades
• Troubleshooting onboard electronics and accessories
• Assisting with inspections and readiness checks
• Washing, cleaning, and detailing the vehicle as needed
• Maintaining overall operational readiness and appearance

Required Qualifications:
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Strong working knowledge of: General automotive systems, Electrical and electronic components, Hydraulics, Mechanical systems
• Ability to work independently and problem-solve
• Comfortable working around custom and non-standard vehicle systems
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious

Preferred (Not Required):
• Experience with Ford Super Duty trucks (F-450 / F-550)
• Background in fleet maintenance, utility trucks, or specialty vehicles
• Basic fabrication or modification experience
• Familiarity with low-voltage electronics or auxiliary vehicle systems

Schedule & Compensation:
• As-needed / on-call
• Estimated 8–16 hours per month
• $25–$30 per hour, based on experience and skill level
• Flexible scheduling coordinated in advance

• Vehicle is based in Port Charlotte, Florida
• Work is performed locally; no travel required
