Job description:
Looking for a great new opportunity? Octopus Japanese Restaurant in Burbank, California is now hiring for a few line cooks. Two shifts are available, morning (start at 10:00 AM) and afternoon (start at 4:00 PM).
Earn from $18.00 (base pay) per hour and anywhere from $2.00 to $7.00 more per hour in tips! That's a combined total possibility of $20.00 $25.00 per hour! We are willing to train the right candidate but a strong work ethic and positive attitude is required.
Knowledge of cooked Japanese food highly desired!
Your culinary expertise, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment will contribute to the overall success of our kitchen operations.
Responsibilities:
Prepare cooked foods based on pre-set specs and menu.
Ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients by adhering to proper storage, handling, and labeling procedures.
Assist in the preparation of sauces, marinades, and other components used in sushi dishes.
Cook rice and maintain its quality and consistency throughout the day.
Grill, sauté, or fry proteins and vegetables as required for sushi and other menu items.
Coordinate with the sushi chef and other kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate preparation of orders.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment, utensils, and prep stations.
Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures to maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
Assist in inventory management, including monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages or discrepancies to the kitchen supervisor.
Collaborate with other kitchen team members to ensure smooth communication and efficient workflow.
Assist with additional kitchen duties as assigned by the kitchen supervisor or head chef.
Qualifications:
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistency in food quality and presentation.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
