Bike Mechanic - Service Oriented North County Coastal Bike Shop

About the shop:

We are a very high-volume community oriented shop located on the iconic coast highway 101 in downtown Encinitas. A few years ago we pivoted from a traditional retail bike shop model and no longer stock bikes for sale on the floor. As a primarily service oriented shop we are committed to providing unparalleled expertise and service exclusively focused on the bicycles and electric bikes our community is riding. We are avid cyclists ourselves riding everything from the latest and greatest road & mountain bikes to throttle powered electric bikes and we understand that owning a bicycle comes with its fair share of maintenance challenges. That's why we've designed our shop to cater exclusively to the needs of riders in our community who seek expert care and attention for their bikes. While other shops may offer a range of products, our singular focus enables us to offer specialized services that go above and beyond what most shops are capable of providing. Additionally we have a wide selection of premium electric bikes and road bikes available for rent to help anyone visiting town to get out and explore the wide range of fantastic rides we have access to here in North County.

About the position:

As a mechanic at RIDE Cyclery your main responsibilities will include:

- Performing thorough inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of bicycles, including road bikes, mountain bikes, and electric bikes.

- Maintaining a clean and organized workbench.

- Assisting with customer service (answering phones, service writing, rental bike prep and overview with customer, and using POS to ring out customers for completed service work).

- Staying up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and industry advancements in bicycles, components, and their repair.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a Bicycle Mechanic or in a similar role, with a solid understanding of bicycle components, systems, tools, and repair techniques.

- Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues with any bicycle that might be out on the road, especially recent and current generation Shimano and SRAM systems. Experience working with common eBike electrical systems is desirable, but not mandatory -- we can teach our method of electrical diagnosis and repair.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently to meet repair deadlines.

- A commitment to upholding safety standards and ensuring the highest quality workmanship.

- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and provide friendly assistance to customers of all skill levels.

- Lightspeed POS familiarity is a big plus.
