Job Title: Fire Extinguisher & Suppression Systems Technician


Job Summary

Responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of portable fire extinguishers, kitchen hood and other suppression systems, emergency/exit lighting at customer sites, ensuring all work meets NFPA, OSHA, and local fire codes.


Key Responsibilities

• Inspection & Testing: Perform annual and monthly inspections, pressure tests (hydrostatic), and maintenance on portable extinguishers, hoods, emergency/exit lights and other life safety devices.
• Maintenance & Repair: Recharge extinguishers, replace parts, troubleshoot system malfunctions, and perform minor repairs.
• Documentation: Complete accurate inspection reports, log all serviced equipment, and identify non-conformance issues for clients.
• Code Compliance: Stay current with and apply federal (CFR Title 49), state (e.g., CA Title 19), and local fire codes.
• Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients, explaining findings and promoting additional products/services.
• Shop Duties: Perform extinguisher teardowns, recharging, and hydrostatic testing in the service shop.


Qualifications & Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Valid California fire extinguisher license
• Five (5)+ years experience as a fire extinguisher and suppression systems technician. Training in specific system types (e.g., kitchen, co2, etc.)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand/power tools.
• Physical ability for climbing, lifting, bending, and working in varied conditions (hot/cold, outdoors).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
