Job Description
This photo is of my dog! But I am the one who needs caregiver. He just comes along!
We hired a person recently who had a life change so we are actively looking to have this position filled. You may have seen this ad recently.
I am a thirty six year old woman with a physical disability. I use a power wheelchair. I have a cool adapted minivan with an automatic ramp. There is slight lifting as I need help with transfers but not anything too personal or too icky.
I am looking for a person that can work a 25 hours work straight through shift, paid for sleeping over. I have a really cute cozy house located on the outskirts of Fort Bragg, in a very nice and safe neighborhood with redwood trees, a deck and yard. I have a great team of people that assistant me. The shift I need to be filled is described below:
1. Fridays- 5pm to Saturday at 6pm.
Total 25 hours (8 hr. paid for sleeping at my house)
$25.00 per hr.
You have own your really nice bedroom and private bathroom so it’s really comfortable to sleep over. This could be an ideal situation for someone who wishes to work these hours in a row (because it is equal to working three days in a 8 hr a day setting.) Giving more days for other things. It’s also a meaningful job providing support and freedom for me.
I’m very independent and can do a lot myself. There’s slight lifting involved as I can bare weight, stand and take steps but just need a hand with balancing, assistance to transfer which is holding my hand until I sit or reach a grab bar. I don't have any medical complications. And no I don't wear diapers (hey, I've been asked). I do some of my personal care too. But I can’t cook! Not at all. I like to read my horoscope every morning. It’s amazing how right it can be! I love taking walks with my dog, (you must love dogs) going to the movies (oh and I pay your ticket so that’s a nice little benefit). I like going on day trips, like to be out and about, going out to dinner, spending time with friends, out to live music, and online shopping when I’m bored. I don’t always buy stuff though. I have a mini van that has a ramp and is super easy to drive. I also enjoy watching movies at home and interesting you tubes. So it’s a personality fit really. I’m a bit of a sensitive and I guess a liberal spiritual type person. I’m pretty low key to live with.
When you reply we can send photos and a file with a list of the job duties, which are pretty simple and basic stuff. On the lighter side of caregiving; attentive companionship, driving, light cleaning, light cooking, etc.
I have a Bernese mountain dog who is four years old, very affectionate.. He travels well in the car and is trained for basic commands. So you should like dogs.
Below is written from my Manager:
Please inquire and include information about yourself, contact information, current living/job situation, resume if you have one, why you are a good candidate for the job etc. - The more information you can supply it makes it so much easier processing your application. But only if you meet all the criteria listed below. We will respond with more details on the salary, house, and job duties once you do so. We are currently accepting applications and looking for that right personality and social fit. The majority of hours are spent providing good companionship.
We offer minimum benefits including some mileage reimbursement. We provide 5 days of paid sick pay per year. For this shift we are open to hiring from inland, such as Willits or Ukiah because of the overnight. The hours are long enough to make the drive worthwhile. (One wonderful assistant we had lived in Laytonville and it was a perfect fit for her and her young family.) That being said we prefer you live on the coast for a variety of reasons. One of which is when the weather changes the drive in winter is hazardous which has ramifications.
1. She is looking for someone who is easy going, enjoys being domestic, is reliable, emotionally stable, positive outlook on life, very patient, and please a sense of humor is a must! This position is about the right personality fit and fit in with her social activities out and about. Training and support will be provided.
2.Having direct care giving experience is a must and preferred. However, you may have experience in your personal life care giving, but not professionally and that might be acceptable depending on the situation.
3. Pass a thorough criminal, background check.- Expect to pass a live screen, which means no arrest record. We prefer CPR certified but we have an online source for renewal. You will be signing up with two different payroll agencies. It's a simple process though and they will pay direct deposit into your checking account. You will receive a W2 at the end of the year.
4. Have an excellent driving record, a reliable car and current insurance. (Although you will be driving her car.)
5. Provide references, complete past job experience in the previous five years.
6. Her preference (not a requirement to be clear) and perfectly legal to do so as it’s a care giving position, is work with a female.
7. Enjoy dogs, since she has a large lovable Bernese mountain dog.
8. She has no medical complications, there is slight lifting involved but she does use a power wheelchair, needing minimal care and transfer assistance as she stand.
Thank you for your interest! Hope to talk to you soon!
