ABOUT SHOJI -

At SHOJI, we are passionate about hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences. We are seeking kind, professional, and ambitious talent to join our dinner service team in FiDi/SOMA. Our cafe and bar transforms from a specialty coffee and ceremonial matcha destination by day into a chic, high energy bar and restaurant featuring Japanese and Thai inspired dishes, Japanese spirits, and craft Japanese cocktails.

We are looking for experienced hosts and servers who want to grow with us and deliver the highest level of service.

Dinner Service Hours:
Tuesday-Saturday 4pm-11pm

Positions Offered:
- Host
- Servers
- Pizzaiolo
- Pastry Chef

Ideal Candidates:
- Minimum 3 years experience in a relevant role
- Passion for creating welcoming, memorable guest experiences
- Ability to think quickly on your feet and adapt to new situations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Professional, reliable, and punctual
- Valid California food handler’s card
- Able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50lbs

Host Responsibilities:
- Greet guests warmly and professionally upon arrival
- Manage waitlists, reservations, and table flow efficiently
- Communicate wait times clearly and accurately
- Coordinate seating with service staff to ensure smooth operations
- Answer guest questions regarding the menu, hours, and general offerings
- Maintain a clean, organized host stand and entrance area
- Assist with guest requests and resolve minor issues with grace
- Support the FOH team as needed.

Server Responsibilities:
- Greet guests with warmth and professionalism
- Take orders and serve food and drinks accurately and efficiently
- Have full understanding and knowledge of both food and drink menus
- Bus and reset tables to maintain a clean and inviting dining environment
- Anticipate guest needs and provide attentive, personalized service
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth, seamless service during busy shifts
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety
- Assist with side work and set-up/closing tasks as needed

Pizzaiolo Responsibilities:
- Prepare, ferment, and bake canotto style dough
- Execute consistent service during cafe hours and evening aperitivo service
- Manage dough schedules, hydration, and fermentation timelines
- Collaborate on small dishes meant to compliment main dishes and beverages
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety
- Work closely with all staff

Requirements:
- Professional experience with pizza, bread, or pastry
- Strong understanding of dough fermentation and handling
- Interest in Itameshi cuisine
- Calm, focused approach to service
- Strong attention to detail and pride in craft
