Dawson Custom Workroom - High End Interior Design Sewing

High-end soft goods manufacturing workroom in the city of San Francisco is looking for part-time or full-time
Seamstress/Sewist. Primary job duties include sewing draperies, roman shades, pillows, cushions, bedding, and other soft goods by hand and using our sewing machines.

Qualifications/Necessary Experience:
- Comfortable working with basic construction and sewing tools such as Industrial sewing machine (e.g., Single
needle, Overlock, Tacking machine, Blind Stitch) Fabric Scissors, Air Compressor, Industrial Iron, etc.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Self-motivated and takes detailed direction well
- Maintains good organization in the workplace
-Regularly needs to be able to lift heavy draperies and roman shades that often are with upholstery weight fabric.
-Must be able to push and pull fabric through a single needle sewing machine.
-Must be able to use a clamp to secure fabrics to the worktable for accurate measuring as well as for quality check and review.
-Lifting fabrics for projects that can weigh form 5- 35 pounds on a regular basis
-When tabling draperies, must be able to shift drapery panels that can range from 1.5 – 7 widths.
-applicant must understand there is repetitive motion when using scissors and industrial machines in addition to bending, twisting and reaching above shoulders when measuring roman shades and draperies for accuracy..
While we welcome applicants with all types of sewing and construction experience, please understand that the construction of draperies and window coverings takes a different skill set than most other forms of sewing.
Applicants with expertise in workrooms and construction of heavier soft goods are preferred. Some "on the job"
training may be available if necessary.
