Mission Statement:

Bean's Cafe exists to fight hunger and homelessness one meal at a time.



Job Summary:

The DMO/Kitchen Help, under the direct report to the Sous Chef, maintains all dish stations and dish machine, ensuring all equipment is clean and ready for use each day. This position ensures the kitchen is clean and all trash has been emptied, and all common areas are clean and well-kept. The DMO/Kitchen Help assists with an food prep and kitchen help when needed.



Supports Vision:

The DMO/Kitchen Help supports the mission of Bean’s Cafe by supporting the kitchen staff and by ensuring a clean kitchen environment is maintained for all team members.



Duties/Responsibilities:

Properly set up dish stations, wash, sort, and put away all dishes by end of day.

Take out garbage and clean cigarette bins daily.

Clean office area, breakroom, and bathroom on a regular basis.

Maintain a clean working area including windows above dish machine area.

Clean and sanitize work areas and food supply storage areas, ensuring the kitchen is always clean and clear of garbage and hazardous clutter.

Assist in food prep and kitchen help when needed.

Comply with all safety and risk policies, procedures; participates in workplace training; reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.

Ability to work cooperatively with fellow team members, students, and volunteers.

May perform other duties and job responsibilities as assigned or needed.

Education and Experience: 

Obtain an Alaska Food Handler’s card within 30 days of employment; renew every 3 years.

At least 18 years of age.

Legal right to work in the United States.

Access to a dependable vehicle and/or transportation.

Undergo a background check (please note; undergoing a background check will not inhibit you from being hired – Bean's Cafe is a Second Chance Employer).   



Physical / Work Attire Requirements:

Ability to physically able to stand for at least 8 hours. 

Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift to 50 pounds. 

Always wear proper work attire, including slip resistant shoes. 

A controlled working environment is primarily provided, however may be exposed to heat/cold during supporting outdoor food service activities.
