Job Description
A payroll clerk is responsible for processing employee paychecks, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Process Payroll:
Collect and verify employee work hours, process payroll data, and issue paychecks or direct deposits accurately and on time.
Maintain Records: Update and maintain payroll records, including employee information, deductions, and benefits.
Handle Inquiries: Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions, and benefits.
Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax withholdings and labor laws.
Prepare Reports: Generate payroll reports for management and assist in audits as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Relevant work experience in payroll or accounting is often required, with a solid understanding of payroll processes and regulations.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and Microsoft Excel is essential for managing payroll data effectively.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are crucial for ensuring accurate payroll processing.
Communication Skills: SPANISH is necessary for addressing employee inquiries and collaborating with HR and finance teams.
