Job Title: Household Manager / Family Support
Location: Los Altos Hills, CA 94022
Employment Type: Part-time

Schedule:
Flexible with 15-25 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Core hours: Monday-Thursday, 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Occasional evening shifts: 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM (date night)
Flexible to be available for schedule changes

Compensation: $40-$45 per hour

Start Date: ASAP

About Our Family
We are a busy, dynamic family of four with two daughters, ages 12 and 15, and one cat. Our household is always in motion, with a frequently changing schedule that includes extracurricular activities like horseback riding, robotics, and various school commitments. Each parent brings unique energy to the home—one parent works in the legal profession with a highly variable schedule and frequent travel, while the other is an entrepreneur with a consistent daily routine. We are looking for someone who can seamlessly integrate into our fast-paced lifestyle, helping to balance the energy and keep the household running smoothly. We value family time and want someone who can manage the day-to-day tasks that allow us to spend more time together. As we’ve recently moved into a new home, we’re also focused on building systems to create efficiency and streamline household operations. One key area where we need support is meal planning. While we enjoy cooking, our busy schedules mean we need assistance developing a weekly meal plan of American comfort classics. Along with managing systems, we also hope to create more space for family time and relaxation, so we can all enjoy a little more downtime together. A good sense of humor, flexibility, and a laid-back approach will be essential to fitting into our family’s dynamic, as we work to optimize our routines and balance our busy lives.

Who You Are / What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a highly organized, proactive, and flexible individual who thrives in a constantly changing environment. You are someone who sees what needs to be done without waiting for direction and can manage multiple tasks with ease, while also looking for ways to make our schedules and processes more efficient. You have excellent judgment and a calm, professional demeanor, even in the midst of a busy household. Your ability to shapeshift from kid chauffeur one day to household manager the next is key to keeping up with our shifting schedules. You are a self-starter who doesn’t need consistent direction and knows how to anticipate needs while offering thoughtful improvements. We value good communication and seek someone who can work collaboratively with our family, while also helping relieve the mental load and support us in achieving a balanced routine. A sense of humor and flexibility are key to making this a great fit.

We eat at home most nights of the week, and while our family does like to cook, due to our busy scheduled we need support around weekly meal planning and would like to have the ingredients ready to go. We’d love a weekly meal plan with American comfort food dishes (our favorites), as well as alternatives for picky eaters.

Key Responsibilities:
Household Management & Organization:
Maintain household organizational systems (closets, pantry, storage)
Reset and tidy rooms daily; maintain overall neatness, ensure home is prepped for cleaning services
Oversee household schedules and calendars
Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding)
Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs and pick-ups
Support unpacking for travel or seasonal transitions
Supervise and coordinate service providers (cleaners, landscapers, etc.)
Load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high traffic areas

Inventory & Errands:
Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, and household supplies
Create and manage running household supply lists
Coordinate and manage household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)
Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping
Handle package pickup, mail sorting, and deliveries

Meal Planning & Preparation:
Plan and prep healthy meals/snacks for adults and/or kids
Batch-cook weekly meals (2-3 meals)
Shop for groceries and meal-related items
Follow dietary needs and family preferences
Clean kitchen post-prep and manage kitchen tidiness

Laundry & Linen Care:
Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (e.g., clothing, bedding, towels)
Manage linens: rotate bedding, refresh towels, restock essentials
Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies

Pet Care:
Feed the cat and clean out the litter box
Brush the cat and clip its nails
Keep pet supplies stocked and organized

Vehicle Management:
Schedule and oversee maintenance, oil changes, and inspections
Ensure vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and organized
Track registration, insurance, and service schedules

Vendor & Property Oversight
Schedule and supervise service providers (cleaners, contractors, landscapers) need system development here
Research and coordinate repairs, maintenance, and quotes
Oversee outdoor spaces and seasonal maintenance needs

Family Support:
Assist with school/activity pick-ups or drop-offs
Light supervision, back-up childcare

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects:
Tackle occasional deep cleans (fridge)
Maintain and refresh specific zones (entryways, garage, mudroom)
Organize special projects: closets, seasonal decorations, riding gear rotation

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support
Help with travel planning, scheduling, and logistics, calendaring
Assist with the coordination of kids events, kids' doctors appointments, and guest prep
