National Electrical Engineering Consultants LLC is seeking experienced Traveling Substation Technician to join our Field Operations team. This is a high-travel role, with teams rotating on a 3-weeks-on, 1-week-off schedule across various commercial and utility-scale job sites nationwide. Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems within utility substationsResponsible for crew safety and personal safetyRead and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagramsPerform testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on electrical equipmentWork on power transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, grounding systems, and control wiringFollow all OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company-specific safety protocolsMaintain documentation for daily work, inspections, and reportsCommunicate effectively with foremen, engineers, and project managersSupport the successful completion of time-sensitive, field-based construction projectsAssist with mobilizing tools and materials to and from job sites
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of electrical experience in substation or utility-related workStrong safety knowledge and leadershipProven ability to read and understand electrical plans and wiring schematicsFamiliarity with substation equipment, including breakers, relays, and control wiringStrong knowledge of electrical safety protocols and PPE useWillingness to travel nationwide (100% travel required)Valid driver's license and clean driving recordAbility to work long hours and overtime, including weekends as neededMust be dependable, team-oriented, and safety-focused
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with commercial utility providers or EPC contractorsOSHA 10 or 30 CertificationExperience operating heavy equipment (excavators, forklifts, manlift, skid steer loaders, etc.)
