Public Works Concrete Estimator

Job description:

We are seeking an experienced Public Works Concrete Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in public works/Caltrans construction and concrete estimating, with a solid understanding of municipal, county, and state projects.

Responsibilities:

Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for public works/Caltrans minor concrete projects (curb & gutter, sidewalks, drive approaches, ramps, flatwork, etc.)
Review plans, specifications, and bid documents
Perform quantity take-offs and material/labor cost analysis
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
Assist with bid submissions and post-bid reviews
Maintain estimating databases and historical cost data

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience estimating public works/Caltrans minor concrete projects
Strong knowledge of public agency standards, specifications, and bidding procedures
Proficiency in estimating software B2W or equivalent
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Experience:

Experience with Caltrans, county, or municipal public works projects
Knowledge of prevailing wage and public contract requirements
Compensation: Starting at $150,000 annually, depending on experience
