Job Description

M&E is looking for two Film & TV industry writers:
• One writer focused on Above the Line
• One writer focused on Below the Line

This role is for writers who actively follow the Film & Television industry and understand how it actually operates — from guilds and unions to production workflows and industry events.

WHAT YOU’LL WRITE ABOUT
• Film & TV industry news and developments
• Industry events (festivals, markets, panels, guild activity)
• Guilds and unions (SAG-AFTRA, WGA, DGA, IATSE, etc.)
• Above-the-line and below-the-line roles and career paths
• Interviews with professionals working in the industry

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• Strong writing skills with a professional, industry-appropriate tone
• Working knowledge of Film & TV industry structure
• Clear understanding of above-the-line vs below-the-line roles
• Familiarity with guilds, unions, and industry organizations
• Ability to independently research, fact-check, and verify information
• Comfortable working remotely and managing deadlines

ABOUT M&E
The previous company behind BTLNews and AboveTheLine closed due to operational issues. M&E is a new company that acquired select intellectual property and merged everything into a single network platform.

Articles from this network have been referenced by major outlets including CBS Sports, ELLE, Wikipedia, Golf.com, and others.

IMPORTANT
You must actively keep up with industry events and be comfortable setting up interviews. Previous writers were deeply involved in the industry and had strong knowledge of its rhythms, trends, and shifts.

POSITION DETAILS
• Remote position
• Approximately 5 articles per week (flexible for deeper reporting)

COMPENSATION
• $250 per week to start
• After ~1 month, compensation can be reviewed
• Opportunity for increased weekly rate and potential profit sharing once consistency, reliability, and quality are established

We are specifically looking for writers who are reliable and long-term. Past experience has shown that consistency matters as much as writing quality.
