2 - The "Fit" Requirements (The Mindset)

Attendance Reliability: Must understand that consistent attendance is the baseline for earning trust, bonuses, and promotions.
Physical Requirements (The Industry Standard)

Comfortable working outdoors in heat, humidity, rain, and bugs.
Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods (8+ hours)
Substance Policy:
No pre-employment drug test.
Zero tolerance for being high or drunk on the job.
If a customer can see it or smell it, you're done.
Keep it off the clock and out of the work truck.
THE JOB:
Are you tired of being just a number? Tired of watching senior guys get all the good spots and promotions while your stuck with the weed whacker all day?
At David's Landscaping, we aren't like the other guys. We are a small, fast-growing team, and we aren't looking for someone to fill a seat. We are looking for the person who wants to grow with us and step into the leadership roles we are creating right now. If you come in and prove you have a good head on your shoulders, you aren't going to be stuck at the bottom. You will be first in line for Crew Leader positions, higher pay, and the freedom that comes with being trusted.
What Makes Us Different?
Room to Grow: We don't have all the management spots filled by old-timers yet. We are building our A-Team now. Do well, and you will be trained to lead your own crew.
We Train You: Experience is a plus, but a great attitude is a requirement. We provide the best training and clear direction—we won't set you up to fail.
You Have a Voice: Once you prove yourself, you get freedom. As long as the work gets done well and the customer is happy, I don't care how you do it. Senior crew members will eventually decide who mows what.
The Ideal Candidate:
You might be looking for a long-term career in landscaping, or maybe this is a stepping stone to something else. That's fine with me. As long as you are giving your best effort most days, listening to constructive feedback, and making adjustments, then I will support you 100%.
Pay & Performance (The Numbers):
Starting Wage: $17/hour to start (No experience necessary).
30-Day Review: Show up on time for 1 month and get $1 raise—with BACKPAY! for the entire first month. That means if you worked 160 hours you will get $160 cash bonus just for showing up every work day on time.
Promotions: The faster you learn, the faster you lead. Leadership positions come with significant pay increases.
Year-End Bonus: Work the full season, show up on time (life happens, just communicate), and keep unexcused absences under 3. That earns you a minimum $500 Christmas bonus.
There IS no I in TEAM:
You will be assigned a roll to do by the crew leader when you get to each property. This does not mean that is the only thing for you to do, just that it needs to be done first completely. Take note on a consistent basis how far your co-workers are along in what they are doing. This is called being AWARE of your surroundings.
Help The Team Finish - When you are done with your assigned role for the property that doesn't mean it is time for a break. After you finish you should help the team finish in a way that makes sense. Don't start blowing if there is still 10 minutes of weed whacking to do. In that case grab a weed whacker, help finish weed whacking and then blow.
Dead Weight: If you are consistently late and lazy, this isn't the place for you. We are building something here, and we don't have time to carry dead weight.
The Hours: Expect 30-50 hours a week during the season (April - Dec). Want overtime? Saturdays are available.
Winter Work: We are landscapers, not year-round employees. We work hard in the season. When winter hits, you will be laid off and eligible for unemployment. Snow removal is available when it snows, but the heavy hours stop around Christmas.
The crew leader spot for this season is still open, and it could be yours if you prove yourself in the first 30 days.
Don't wait until April to find a job. Lock in your spot now with a company that actually cares about you and will give you the best chance to achieve leadership positions with freedom and responsibility and a sizable pay increase!
*To apply, email me your resume and cover letter at and answer these two questions:
Why do you want to work at a small, growing company instead of a big one?
What does being a 'good teammate' mean to you?"
Feel free to reach out with any questions or to follow up.
Thanks for your time and your consideration,
David
