Job Description

Embroidery Assistant — Nicole Ryder Studio

Nicole Ryder Studio is seeking an embroidery assistant to support the production of
mixed-media artworks in the Los Angeles studio. Ryder recently relocated her practice from
Brooklyn, NY, and is building a focused team to support studio making.

The ideal candidate enjoys quiet, focused work with their hands and is comfortable spending
extended periods (2–4 hours at a time) engaged in detailed stitching. The studio environment is
calm and music- or podcast-friendly, with initial supervision and training in Ryder’s specific
techniques before transitioning toward independent work.

Responsibilities:
Assisting with hand embroidery on artworks using studio-specific techniques
Preparing textiles and fabrics for stitching
Ironing, steaming, and handling materials
Supporting assembly and preparation of finished works for framing

Qualifications Required:
Prior sewing or embroidery experience
Strong attention to detail and manual precision
Comfort working with delicate textiles
Ability to maintain focus during repetitive, detail-oriented tasks
Calm, reliable, and self-directed working style
Interest in craft, textiles, or artistic production

Availability & Compensation:
Part-time, in-person position
2–3 days per week (additional days possible)
Hourly compensation based on experience - starting hourly durning training period and going up once technique is mastered
Location: DTLA Studio in the Fashion District
