Moving Staff/Selecting Staff/Staging Staff

Pacific Plug & Liner, a sister company to Smith Gardens has an exciting opportunity for a Selecting Staff to join our team at our Watsonville, CA Site.

JOB FUNCTION:
Moving Staff
 Consolidate trays based on growing needs
 Operate overhead trolley to efficiently move plants
 Move empty and full tables throughout the greenhouse as directed by moving lead
or supervisor
 With support from others- safely stack empty tables to consolidate space
 Unload seed trays on to tables
 Dump poor quality product as instructed by moving lead
 Operate hand-held scanner to scan all trays and tables
 Assist in other departments as needed.

Selecting Staff
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Select high-quality plants and place them in flats, which may involve lifting pots from the floor or tables onto trailers for transport to the staging area.
• Clean and trim selected plants as needed.
• Check pots for correct labels and tags; re-label pots or plants if necessary.
• Assist with planting, maintaining, moving, and spacing plants as required.
• Support other departments with tasks such as watering during slower periods.
• Transport other departments with tasks such as watering during slower periods.
• Operate tractors, forklifts, and other equipment when properly trained and certified.
• Assist with field repairs, including replacing ground cover and irrigation pipes.
• Perform general labor tasks, including cutting grass and pushing or pulling loaded trailers.

Staging Staff
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 Verify plant counts prior to packing
 Add netting to trays shipping in boxes to preserve plant integrity.
 Use inserts, boxes, pallet shelves, racks as instructed by supervisor.
 Safely operate air tools such as box stapler
 Position empty racks in a designated area in preparation for plant placement (adjustment of shelves)
 Contribute to maintaining or exceeding established staging trays per hour rate
 Move flats of plants from tables onto designated racks
 Monitor quality of plants as staged onto racks or boxes
 Push or pull empty or full racks of plants on to trailers
 Check for missing plant cells or poor quality and report to supervisor
 Use handheld scanner and/or computer as required
 Keeping work area clean and organized
 Operate heavy equipment (such as a pallet jack) to move racks
 Participate in weekly 6s activities
