Pastry Chef - Fine Dining
Carmel-by-the-Sea / Monterey Peninsula
We’re hiring a Pastry Chef for a high-standard, ingredient-driven fine dining restaurant on the Monterey Peninsula. Qualified applicants will be notified of the business and location for a in-person interview.
This is a key role for someone who is organized, creative, and deeply committed to consistency and execution. We’re looking for a pastry professional who can balance precision, production, and service while contributing to a refined guest experience at a high level.
What You’ll Do
Lead pastry prep and dessert production for dinner service
Execute plated desserts, mignardise, breads, and other pastry components (depending on program needs)
Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation standards
Manage pastry mise en place, prep schedules, and pars
Work closely with Chef/Owner on seasonal menu development and R&D
Help manage ordering, inventory, receiving, and product quality for pastry ingredients
Train and support pastry cooks / cross-trained BOH staff as needed
Uphold sanitation, food safety, labeling, and cleanliness standards
Maintain an organized, efficient, and clean pastry station/work area
What We’re Looking For
3+ years professional pastry experience (fine dining preferred)
Strong fundamentals in pastry techniques, baking, and dessert plating
High attention to detail, organization, and consistency
Ability to work independently and stay ahead on production
Calm under pressure during service and deadline-driven prep
Positive attitude and team-first mentality
High standards for cleanliness and mise en place
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work long periods on your feet
Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays
Compensation / Benefits
$30–$35/hour (DOE) + medical, dental, vision insurance and 401(k) match
