Night Manager / Event Producer (Downtown LA – The Last Bookstore)
Part-time or Full-time | Nights + Remote

The Last Bookstore in downtown Los Angeles is expanding its evening hours again for the first time since the pandemic. We are hiring two Night Managers who are also Event Producers, to run the Last Bookstore as a venue 5-6 nights/week. This role combines front-of-house retail management with creative event production.

Also open to independent freelance event teams or producers who want to pitch themselves.

Night managers oversee the bookstore during evening hours while also developing, producing, and promoting events in the store. Also assisting with monthly flea markets, festivals, and conventions that expand from the bookstore to the entire Spring Arts Tower building above us (12 floors).

We’re looking for people who can create and host compelling, credible, packed-house events—not just book whatever comes along. Ideal candidates have experience producing live music, literary, film, theatrical, or community events and understand the economics of ticketed programming.

This position includes evening shifts in the store plus remote work planning events and programming.

IN-PERSON SCHEDULE:

Thu-Fri-Sat-Sun nights plus Wed and/or Mon nights (ranges 6pm–11pm)

Additional remote hours planning, networking, coordinating.

COMPENSATION

$20–$25/hr base depending on experience

Plus Event bonuses / revenue participation

RESPONSIBILITIES

-Manage bookstore during evening shifts

-Coordinate performers, speakers, and vendors
-Help with monthly flea markets, festivals, and conventions
-Assist with promotion and logistics
