Job Description
Current law students, or those with legal experience preferred. Experience or familiarity with special education and disabilities preferred.
Duties:
- Intake for clients
- Communicate with clients to obtain documents and full records
- Review, organize, and categorize records
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various topics
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents (ex: complaints, demands, motions, etc.)
- Review and summarize IEPs and legal documents
- Assist with document management and organization
- Attend meetings with attorneys and clients to gather information
- Prepare drafts of correspondence and other written materials
- Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and maintaining calendars
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Either a current law student or meet the licensing requirements of a paralegal in California
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in legal research databases and software
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Previous experience as a paralegal or law clerk is a plus
- Previous experience with IEPs or children with disabilities a plus
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20-30 per hour (or more depending on experience)
Hours: Up to 15 hours per week initially, with opportunity for additional hours in the near future. Flexible schedule and fully remote. Prefer candidates in San Diego as you may occasionally need to pick up materials from our office, but open to candidates throughout California.
