Job Description
Bison Ridge Construction, LLC is seeking an Equipment Manager/Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain our fleet of heavy equipment, tractor/trailers and pickups. The ideal candidate will have experience managing, coordinating and performing repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure efficient and safe operation of our fleet. We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and at least 1 to 2 years’ experience as an Equipment Manager. Experience with various makes of heavy equipment, pickups, tractor/trailers and small equipment is essential. Our fleet includes Volvo, CAT, John Deere, Bomag, Dynapac and other brands of equipment consisting of excavators, loaders, scrapers, dozers, water trucks, motor graders, compactors/rollers, skidsteers, etc. Experience with Kenworth tractors, and Ford, GMC and Dodge pickups is also helpful.
Our shop is in Milliken, CO. Our projects are located in the Denver Metro area, all along the Colorado Front Range and in southern Wyoming. Most work will be done on-site at our projects. We expect the Equipment Manager to use tools, technology and other resources to maximize machine life cycles while minimizing downtime. Essential Functions
• Manage the schedules and assignments for a crew of 2 to 4 mechanics/parts runners
• Oversee work being completed by mechanics
• Monitor fleet operations to maximize efficiency and reduce costs
• Maintain preventative maintenance schedules
• Maintain parts inventory and accurate records of repairs performed
• Oversee compliance with DOT regulations and safety standards
• Perform periodic inspections of equipment and tools for safety issues, leaks, damage, excessive wear, and other issues that could affect the machine’s performance. Record results on inspection forms.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment by using computer programs, manuals, schematics, and other resources
• Repair, replace and rebuild machine parts while accounting for time and cost
• Overhaul major components, such as engines, transmissions, and fuel, hydraulic and electrical systems
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as services, lubrication, and changing wear parts
• Administrative tasks including daily electronic time sheet entry, updating repair/PM logs, and keeping daily notes highlighting the day's tasks and activities
• Ensure all employees comply with company safety procedures. Immediately correct and document any unsafe conditions.
• Train and motivate employees
• Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and at least 1 to 2 years’ experience as an Equipment Manager
• Valid driver license and clean MVR
• Knowledge of federal, state and local DOT regulations.
• Able to read schematics
• Able to troubleshoot and diagnose issues
• Able to find replacement parts using various resources
• Must have own tools
• Experience with gas and diesel engines
• Prefer experience with fabricating and welding
• Self-motivated with a strong ability to prioritize effectively, work independently, manage time, multitask, and handle stress.
• Highly effective communicator with the ability to interact positively and professionally with vendors, customers, coworkers, and company leaders.
• Strong work ethic with a focus on quality and safety
Physical Requirements
Must be physically fit and able to perform job duties including: frequent use of hands, arms, legs and whole body; long periods of standing, sitting or lying down; repeatedly working overhead, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and climbing equipment; lifting of objects in excess of 50 pounds. Must have manual dexterity and visual acuity to identify and manipulate small components. Must be able to work in all weather conditions including very hot, cold and wet conditions.
