Job Description
As Commercial Finish Carpenter with PeopleReady Skilled Trades, you'll support carpenter contractors throughout Valdosta, GA. Responsibilities
Hours: 5X8's, Monday-Friday, 40+ hours
Review Project Plans and Drawings:
Study blueprints, layouts, and architectural designs for cabinetry and display installations.
Select appropriate wood, laminate, glass, and other materials for cabinetry and displays.
Assemble and organize tools like saws, drills, levels, and measuring tapes.
Measure, cut, and assemble cabinetry components.
Install cabinets securely, ensuring alignment and stability.
Adjust and modify cabinetry based on museum layout or client feedback.
Fabricate display cases using wood, glass, or other materials.
Install display supports, shelving, and protective features for artifacts.
Ensure proper lighting integration (if required) for showcasing exhibits.
Apply finishes or coatings to protect materials from wear and environmental damage.
Incorporate protective features like UV-resistant glass or anti-tamper locks for artifact security.
Be at least 18+ years of age
Proficient in cutting, shaping, and assembling wood, veneers, and other materials.
Skilled in installing trim, molding, baseboards, doors, and cabinetry.
Ability to work with high levels of accuracy to ensure perfect fit and finish.
Capability to achieve smooth finishes, clean edges, and aesthetically pleasing results.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and plans.
Understanding of measurements, specifications, and architectural designs.
Skilled in using hand tools like chisels, hammers, and saws.
Proficiency with power tools such as sanders, routers, and nail guns.
Understanding of wood types, finishes, adhesives, and fasteners.
Knowledge of other materials used in finishing, such as laminates, glass, and hardware.
Ability to handle small, intricate tasks with precision and control.
Ability to stand, bend, kneel and walk for extended periods throughout the day
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
Prior experience in the commercial field required
