Job Description
The Sausage Factory is a long-standing Italian American restaurant in the heart of the Castro, serving San Francisco since 1968. With the Castro Theatre reopening soon, we’re preparing for increased volume and are looking for a Kitchen Manager / Lead Cook to help guide our kitchen through this next phase of growth.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who wants to grow with the restaurant. We have a solid team in place and are looking for someone who can support, mentor, and improve day-to-day kitchen organization—learning how we operate first, then helping take things to the next level over time.
Responsibilities include:
• Leading and supporting the kitchen during service
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety
• Creating and reinforcing prep lists, task lists, and kitchen systems
• Mentoring and retraining the kitchen team where needed
• Jumping on the line and filling in as needed
We’re looking for someone who:
• Has strong line cook experience with leadership exposure
• Is organized, calm under pressure, and dependable
• Enjoys mentoring and helping a team grow
• Is interested in long-term growth and increased responsibility
• Values consistency, teamwork, and execution over ego
Details:
• Full-time position
• Open Tuesday–Sunday
• Nights and weekends required
• Competitive hourly compensation based on experience, with clear opportunities for growth into a larger leadership role
If you’re looking for a stable kitchen, a supportive ownership team, and the chance to grow into a bigger role over time, we’d love to hear from you. Please reply with your resume and a brief introduction.
