Job Summary:
The Estimating Assistant is responsible for supporting the Estimating Department in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This role involves assisting with the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data required for project bids. The Estimating Assistant will work closely with estimators, project managers, and other team members to ensure all estimating activities are completed on time and in accordance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in gathering and organizing data, such as material costs. Notify estimator of potential discrepancies in the plans. Create base molding take off.
• Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery schedules to include in estimates.
• Manage incoming bid invites and create internal project files. Maintain and organize project files, including architectural drawings, specifications, photos, and all incoming information from the general contractor. Manage and compare incoming sub-contractor quotes.
• Handle general administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and responding to inquiries from clients and team members.
• Gather and analyze sub-contractor bids, answer questions from the sub-contractors promptly. Upload new documents to sub-contractor’s bid invite as they arrive.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in construction management, business, or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in construction, estimating, or a related field is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Basic knowledge of estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift) is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of reading and understanding architectural drawings and specs.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Proactive and positive attitude.

Physical Requirements:
• Primarily office-based with occasional visits to project sites.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and the ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Option to work in Fremont, CA. or Sacramento, CA.
