The Water Mitigation Technician is responsible for responding to water losses and environmental events by performing emergency mitigation services to stabilize structures, prevent further damage, and support the restoration process. This role requires physical labor, attention to detail, adherence to safety and industry standards, and clear communication with supervisors, team members, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to emergency water losses and perform mitigation services, including water extraction, demolition, drying, and monitoring
Set up, monitor, and break down drying equipment such as air movers, dehumidifiers, and air scrubbers
Perform controlled demolition of affected building materials (drywall, flooring, insulation, cabinetry, etc.) as directed
Document job activities accurately, including photos, moisture readings, equipment usage, and daily work logs
Follow established work scopes, drying plans, and supervisor instructions
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site at all times
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols and regulatory requirements
Load, unload, clean, and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles
Communicate job progress, concerns, and changes clearly to supervisors
Provide professional and respectful customer service while working in occupied properties
Participate in after-hours, weekend, and on-call rotations as required
Required Qualifications
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work on feet for extended periods, and perform physical labor in various environments
Ability to work in confined spaces, crawlspaces, and environments with noise, dust, and odors
Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and mitigation equipment
Basic ability to use smartphones or tablets for documentation and communication
Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in water mitigation, restoration, construction, or demolition
IICRC certifications (WRT, ASD, AMRT, or similar) or willingness to obtain
Understanding of drying principles, moisture mapping, and containment practices
Experience working in occupied residential or commercial properties
Work Environment & Schedule
Emergency response role requiring flexibility in schedule
Work may include nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts
Indoor and outdoor work in residential, commercial, and industrial settings
Exposure to wet environments, dust, debris, and varying temperatures
Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing
Ability to wear PPE, including respirators, gloves, and protective suits
Ability to work in physically demanding and time-sensitive situations
