Louma is brand-new bakery in West LA with a mission: blending artisanal baking with social impact. Equipped with top-notch equipment, we’re creating a space where creativity, craftsmanship, and community come together - and we’re looking for a passionate head chef to join our launch team.
In our kitchen, we craft breads (sourdough, baguettes, rye), classic pastries (Danish and French-style), and seasonal to-go offerings. Overview:
Lead the culinary team at LOUMA Bakery as our Head Chef, overseeing kitchen operations and driving the development of a thoughtful, seasonal menu. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the bakery’s culinary identity, with a strong emphasis on creativity, quality, and responsibly sourced, high-quality ingredients.
Responsibilities:
Menu Development:
Lead the creation of innovative, balanced menus for breakfast and lunch, with a strong focus on vegetables, high-quality ingredients, and thoughtful inclusion of meat and dairy
Collaborate closely with the bakery team to ensure seamless integration between savory offerings and baked goods
Cooking & Preparation:
Oversee daily food preparation and cooking, ensuring consistency, flavor, and visually appealing presentation
Lead production of daily spreads, salads, and layered sandwiches
Kitchen Leadership & Operations:
Provide strong, supportive leadership to the kitchen team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
Manage day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring organization, cleanliness, and strict adherence to food safety standards
Train and mentor kitchen staff to maintain and elevate culinary quality
Collaborate closely with the Head Baker on menu planning for breakfast and lunch offerings
Ingredient Sourcing:
Source and select locally sourced, seasonal ingredients aligned with the bakery’s values of quality and sustainability
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistency and freshness
Seasonal & Guest-Focused Offerings:
Develop seasonal menus that reflect local availability and culinary creativity
Engage with customers to gather feedback and continuously improve the overall dining experience
Requirements:
Leadership experience in a professional kitchen; Head Chef experience is a plus but not required
Strong culinary foundation with an emphasis on flavor, balance, and seasonality
Demonstrated creativity in menu development and presentation
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively across bakery and kitchen teams
