Direct Support Staff/Caregiver for Young Adult Man

Direct support staff needed to join the current in-home care team for a 30 yr old, non-verbal young man with intellectual disability, seizure disorder and profound autism. We are looking for someone who can provide support with care tasks, daytime activities, and outings. Training will be provided.

Responsibilities:
Providing assistance with self-care and grooming
General supervision and companionship
Snack and meal prep, and assistance during meals
Going on daytime outings, including: walking or biking in the park, volunteering at a farm, social time at a therapeutic horse center, individual music class, going out for a drive along the ocean, swimming at the pool
Facilitating in-home activities, including: looking at picture books, sensory based activities, fine motor activities, listening to music, swinging

Desired Qualifications:
Experience with people with disabilities
Good communicator and team player
Adaptable, can adjust to changing needs during a shift
Observant and detail-oriented
Calm and friendly demeanor
Can tune in and respond to body language, sound patterns, eye gaze and facial expressions
Has a drivers license and reliable car
Non-smoker

Available Shifts:
Beginning and end times can vary based on staffing and scheduling needs, but generally are as follows:
Regular day time shifts: 10am-5pm
Evening shifts: 5-8pm
Overnight shifts: 8pm-10am, include evening and morning care routines
Must be available for at least 2 shifts per week, and can work 6 hrs. minimum per week and available for 9 months or more

All staff are paid biweekly through a Financial Management Service. Live scan will be required.
