Looking for a well-trained dog (and its loving human) to visit my dad

Hello! My father is moving into a care home in January, and I am looking for a kind, reliable person to visit him on a regular basis with their well-trained, gentle dog.

My dad has dementia and limited mobility, but he is a wonderful, warm person who *loves* animals. At this stage in his life, time with dogs brings him more joy than almost anything else. We are hoping to find someone who enjoys both animals and conversation, and who would be happy spending relaxed, friendly time with him.

Visits can take place either outside in the care home’s lovely garden (weather permitting) or in his room. In addition to time with your dog, the role includes chatting with my dad about life, pets, and shared interests. He’s a former firefighter, diver, and water-skier, a devoted family man, and a proud grandfather of three.

We are hoping to find someone with a consistent schedule—ideally someone who lives nearby. Visits would be approximately 30-40 minutes, at least twice per week, and compensation is $30–50 per visit. This could be a great fit for a mature high-school student, college student, or another responsible dog owner with flexibility.

The care home is located off Patterson Ave near University Circle Open Space. Please note that the facility requires fingerprinting for regular visitors.
