General Labor - IMMEDIATE OPENING

THE POSITION:

Dougherty Pump & Drilling Inc. with over 85 years of existence is looking for a qualified applicant to join our family. We offer above prevailing wage packages (contingent upon experience), as well as on the job training, reimbursement for related outside training, as well as benefit packages.

This is an entry level, to experienced level, position. The incumbent will perform skilled and unskilled work of widely varying difficulty with ground water supply systems, including but not limited to water system repairs, maintenance and water well construction. Additionally, the incumbent will perform or assist with metal fabrication, and manufacturing as may be needed.

BASIC DUTIES:
Include but are not limited to:

• operating small hand tools
• operating electric powered tools
• operating gas-powered equipment
• operating well servicing equipment
• Pulling, repairing/replacing pumps of varying sizes
• Basic to intermediate electrical work
• General carpentry skills
• General concrete skills
• Welding skills
• Metal fabrication skills
• Water sampling

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Licenses/Certificates:
• Possess at a minimum a valid class “C” California driver’s license (a class “A” is desirable) that is acceptable to our insurance carrier with a minimum of 5 years driving experience.
• Working knowledge of basic hand tools, electrical wiring, cement work, plumbing, clean and neat work habits.
• Basic math skills sufficient to complete timecards, service records, receipts, and measurement taking.
• Speak, write, and understand English.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED (but not required):
• Current D-1 CA State Certified Water distribution operator (must obtain within 12 months of hire)
• Current T-1 CA State Certified Water treatment plant operator (must obtain within 12 months of hire)
• AWWA (or Approved) Back Flow Assembly Tester


PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work with a full range of body movements involving reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, stretching, and balancing; lift, push, pull and carry items weighing up to 80 pounds; skillfully manipulate fingers, hands, and arms to operate tools and equipment as required.
