Live-in Companion

We are looking for a woman to serve as a live-in housemate for our daughter, C. This is a full-time live-in position. Cl is a middle-aged blind woman who loves reading, music, exercising, going to musical events, and restaurants. She is a very happy person, loves meeting new people. She owns her own home in Northampton where you will live full-time (for free). C does not require any personal assistance but needs assistance with cooking, cleaning, general support for planning, transportation and companionship to events. In addition to blindness, C is challenged by open ended conversation, initiating activities, planning, and cannot live alone. She needs support to achieve her life needs.

Four days a week she has a paid companion who takes her to the YMCA and other activities. Additional respite is also available. In addition to a bi-weekly salary, the person who takes this position receives free housing, including utilities, TV, Wifi, phone, snow removal, and lawn care.There is a food stipend. This is a 10 and ½ month position as C spends six weeks in the summer with her parents.The successful companion must have reliable transportation and good references. C’s companion has her own bedroom and half bath. This is not a short-term job.
