Unique Companies is seeking a highly detail-oriented Engineering & Plan Review Supervisor to lead structural plan review, framing takeoffs, and engineering coordination within our high-end pool and landscape construction division.
This is not a drafting-only role. This is a technical leadership position focused on protecting company profitability, ensuring contract accuracy, and overseeing structural integrity from design through permitting and construction.

Core Responsibilities
Structural Plan Review & Engineering Oversight -
* Review all framing plans (wood, steel, aluminum/Aluma-Wood, 4K structures)
* Coordinate directly with structural engineers
* Ensure framing plans match contract scope and sold conditions
* Identify discrepancies before materials are ordered
* Protect company margin by catching omissions, shortages, or scope creep

Framing & Material Takeoffs -
* Perform lumber takeoffs for pergolas, ramadas, shade structures
* Review Simpson connection schedules and hardware specifications
* Coordinate with:
^ Simpson Strong-Tie suppliers
^ Lumber yards
^ Aluminum suppliers
^ Steel fabricators
* Ensure structural hardware and framing packages are complete and accurate

Permitting & Jurisdictional Coordination -
* Work with local municipalities and permitting departments
* Ensure engineered plans meet jurisdictional requirements
* Manage revisions and resubmittals
* Take projects from design → engineering → permitting → construction release

Contract & Scope Protection -
* Compare construction plans to signed contracts
* Identify contract shortages or scope variances
* Ensure what is sold is clearly represented in the construction documents
* Prevent field conflicts caused by plan inaccuracies
* Act as final technical review prior to material ordering

Required Experience -
* Strong structural framing knowledge (wood & aluminum required)
* Experience with:
^ Pergolas & Ramadas
^ 4K / Aluma-Wood systems
^ Simpson structural connectors
^ Framing hardware schedules
* Construction plan reading (expert level)
* Engineering coordination experience
* Material takeoff experience (lumber & hardware)
* Permit processing knowledge
* Landscape / Pool / Outdoor construction background REQUIRED

Preferred Background -
* Structural drafting or AutoCAD experience (2021+)
* Experience reviewing structural calculations
* Experience in high-end residential construction
* Construction management background
* Pool & Landscape industry experience
* Experience reviewing geotechnical & engineering notes
