SUMMARY:

Operates and maintains the deionization system for rinse water. Performs waste treatment on waste streams from plating and deionization system regeneration to assure that they meet all requirements for sewer discharge.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operates electric pumps, control panels, and other equipment necessary for the operation of the deionization system and the wastewater treatment plant.

Treats waste including batch treatment, deionization system regenerate and spent solutions and operates and maintains the filter press.

Performs deionization system regeneration operations including preparation of day tanks, regeneration, and sequencing of transferring of solutions.

Collects wastewater samples, performs analysis, and records readings and test results of all sample analysis including wastewater effluent and TDS and pH analysis of deionization system waters.

Performs bench tests in the chemical laboratory on non-routine, new, or difficult to treat waste streams to determine the most effective treatment method.

Performs periodic checks on wastewater treatment, plant equipment and systems.

Assists in changing out of tank chemistry by pumping out and replacing bath solutions.

Assist in assuring that all berms and sumps are pumped on a regular basis to keep them in a clean and dry condition.

Performs routine wastewater treatment plant housekeeping chores.
